Michelle Wyatt

BAPO Representative (BLA Council)

Michelle Wyatt qualified in 1992 from Cambridge University and Guy’s Hospital.  She was part of the North Thames Training Programme in Otolaryngology and her Fellowship in Paediatric ENT was undertaken at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She joined the consultant staff there in October 2004 and at the same time became an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, University of London.

Her practice is purely paediatric and includes the management of complex airway pathology, congenital anomalies of the head and neck and cochlear implantation. She is the ENT surgeon to the craniofacial team and has responsibility for the mucopolysaccharidosis and cystic fibrosis patients.

Miss Wyatt lectures on a wide range of courses in the UK, including the British Paediatric Otolaryngology Course and has been an invited speaker at a number of international conferences. She is the Training Director for her unit at Great Ormond Street and acts as Educational Supervisor to the Specialist Trainees in the department. She regularly reviews papers for The Journal of Laryngology and Otology and sits on the Specialist Training Committee for North Thames ENT surgery. She is a Specialist Advisor to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and an examiner for the Intercollegiate FRCS. Her publications mainly reflect her interest in laryngology and management of patients with craniofacial abnormalities. She has been heavily involved with the paediatric guidelines section of the National Tracheostomy Safety Project.

She is a Council member of the British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngology (BAPO).
